The Fall of Duryodhana and the Contest of Restraint

The verse highlights a dharmic dilemma: in extreme circumstances, the outcome of a righteous cause may appear to depend on actions that risk being labeled 'anyāya' (unjust). It forces reflection on whether ends can justify means, especially when kingship and the welfare of a lineage are at stake.
Vāyudeva speaks about the decisive confrontation with Duryodhana. He warns that unless Bhīma kills Duryodhana through an 'unrighteous' method, Duryodhana will survive and become king over the Kurus—framing the final battle as both a strategic and ethical turning point.
