Kurukṣetra–Samantapañcaka Māhātmya: King Kuru’s Ploughing and Indra’s Boon (प्रजापतेरुत्तरवेदिः समन्तपञ्चकं)
tatheti sā pratiśrutya tasmai pārṇiṁ dadau tadā
The verse foregrounds dharma in domestic life: a woman’s explicit assent (“tatheti”) is followed by the śāstra-prescribed marriage rites, showing that ethical legitimacy arises from both consent and proper ritual procedure, with Agni as witness.
She agrees and gives her hand; then Galava’s son performs the required fire-offerings and completes the formal hand-taking and marriage sacrament, thereby solemnizing the union according to tradition.
