Educational Q&A

Renunciation (saṃnyāsa) is not mere abandonment but a disciplined transition guided by śāstric vidhi: one should learn right knowledge and yogic method, discern duty and non-duty, and then undertake the formal rites properly—so that the ethical aim (mokṣa) is pursued through regulated conduct rather than impulse.

The narrator reports that the aspirant, having decided on saṃnyāsa, undergoes and completes the prescribed ceremonial acts according to scriptural procedure; the verse also invokes the wider cosmic-ancestral frame (bhūtāni and Pitṛs), indicating that such a life-transition is recognized within the moral and ritual order.
