Extraordinary power arising from tapas and yoga should be approached through dharma-yukta buddhi—ethical, disciplined discernment—rather than mere fascination with miracles or charisma.
Jaigīṣavya, a wise ascetic, remains concentrated at a tīrtha. Devala observes the yogic potency produced by Jaigīṣavya’s austerities and then thoughtfully evaluates it with an intellect grounded in dharma.
