गदायुद्धप्रतिज्ञा — The Vow and Terms of the Mace Duel
हिरण्यकशिपुश्चैव क्रिययैव निषूदितौ । वृत्रश्न निहतो राजन् क्रिययैव न संशय:
hiraṇyakaśipuś caiva kriyayaiva niṣūditau | vṛtraś ca nihato rājan kriyayaiva na saṁśayaḥ ||
希兰耶迦湿布亦唯因果断之行而被诛。弗利陀亦然,王啊,他也是仅凭行动而被杀——对此毫无疑问。此言所示:纵有神意参与,世间之果仍须以具体而有目的的努力来成就,非徒凭心念或言辞而已。
वायुदेव उवाच
That results—whether in righteous governance or in confronting great threats—are achieved through concrete, purposeful action (kriyā). Even extraordinary victories attributed to divine power are realized through effective means and decisive effort, not through mere wish or speech.
Vāyudeva addresses a king and cites well-known mythic examples—Hiraṇyakaśipu and Vṛtra—to argue that decisive action and practical measures are what bring about the defeat of formidable adversaries, reinforcing a counsel toward active, effective conduct.
