Chapter 23: Śakuni Reports, Kaurava Advance, and Arjuna’s Penetration of the Host
निर्मयदि महायुद्धे वर्तमाने सुदारुणे । प्रादुरासन् विनाशाय तदोत्पाता: सुदारुणा:
nirmaryāde mahāyuddhe vartamāne sudāruṇe | prādurāsan vināśāya tadotpātāḥ sudāruṇāḥ ||
三阇耶说道:当那场大决战已全然失去节制,以骇人的惨烈之势汹涌进行之时,极其可怖的凶兆便显现出来——皆为预告毁灭的征象。
संजय उवाच
When warfare loses maryādā (ethical restraint and limits), it becomes self-destructive; the epic frames such moral collapse as accompanied by ominous signs, underscoring that adharma in action ripens into ruin.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that as the battle turns utterly dreadful and unrestrained, terrifying portents arise—signals that the conflict is moving toward catastrophic destruction.
