शल्यपरिघातः (Śalya Under Encirclement) — Mahābhārata, Śalya-parva, Adhyāya 12
iti sama-vācaḥ śrūyante tava teṣāṃ ca vai bale |

The verse highlights the moral compression that occurs in war: language becomes reduced to imperatives of harm. It implicitly contrasts the loss of reflective dharma with the momentum of collective violence, where both sides mirror each other in intent and expression.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra what is being heard on the battlefield: the same harsh battle-cries and commands resound in both the Kaurava and Pāṇḍava forces, indicating intense close combat and escalating ferocity.
