The verse highlights how leadership and collective emotion (martial pride, excitement, aggression) can propel an army into violence. Ethically, it invites reflection on how loud displays of valor and dominance may mask deeper causes—attachment, anger, and delusion—that drive war forward.
Sañjaya reports to the king that Duryodhana, at the head of the Kaurava fighters, launches a charge. The warriors raise weapons and shout loudly, roaring like lions as they rush to attack their opponents.
