Aśvatthāmā’s Stuti of Rudra and Śiva’s Empowerment (सौप्तिकपर्व, अध्याय ७)
यैरात्मभूतैर्भगवान् पार्वत्या च महेश्वरः
yair ātmabhūtair bhagavān pārvatyā ca maheśvaraḥ
三阇耶说:“由那些如同他自身之人,吉祥的大自在天(摩醯首罗)——与帕尔瓦蒂同在——得以侍奉与随从。”

The verse underscores intimate devotion: the highest divinity (Maheśvara with Pārvatī) is approached and served by beings who are ‘ātmabhūta’—utterly aligned with the divine will—suggesting that true closeness to the sacred is marked by inner identification, loyalty, and purity of intent.
In Sañjaya’s narration within the Sauptika Parva, the focus turns to Maheśvara (Śiva) together with Pārvatī and to those attendants who are described as inseparable from him, setting a devotional and cosmic frame around the events unfolding after the night of slaughter.
