Kṛṣṇasya Khāṇḍavaprasthāt Dvārakā-prayāṇaḥ | Krishna’s Departure for Dvārakā
Āhukaṁ pitaraṁ vṛddhaṁ mātaraṁ ca yaśasvinīm | abhivādya balaṁ caiva sthitaḥ kamalalocanaḥ ||
The verse foregrounds dharmic etiquette: honoring parents and elders through formal salutation and humble posture. Ethical life begins with reverence, self-restraint, and recognition of one’s relational duties.
The lotus-eyed figure (commonly understood as Śrī Kṛṣṇa) greets his aged father Āhuka and his illustrious mother, then also pays respect to Bala (Balarāma), and stands before them in a composed, respectful manner.
