Arjuna’s evacuation of Dvārakā, Vasudeva’s rites, and the caravan’s crisis
na ceha sthātum icchāmi loke kṛṣṇa-vinākṛtaḥ | itaḥ kaṣṭataraṃ cānyac chṛṇu tad vai tapodhana ||

The verse highlights the ethical and spiritual shock of separation from a righteous guide: when the sustaining presence of Krishna (dharma, wisdom, divine support) is gone, worldly life feels empty, and one must face even harsher truths with steadiness and honesty.
Arjuna is reporting to an ascetic sage. He confesses that he cannot bear life in the world without Krishna and then prepares the listener for further, even more distressing news that has occurred after Krishna’s departure.
