Vasudeva–Arjuna Dialogue in the Aftermath of Dvārakā

The verse underscores the Mahābhārata’s ethic of impermanence: when the sustaining figures of one’s world—especially dharmic leaders and one’s own kin—are gone, attachment to worldly life naturally collapses, prompting dispassion and the turn toward renunciation.
After the annihilation of the Vṛṣṇis and the departure of Kṛṣṇa, the speaker expresses that he cannot continue to live while seeing the earth emptied of those central supports. It signals the emotional and moral breaking point that leads toward withdrawal from worldly rule and life.
