Shloka 59

हत्वार्जुन॑ मम सुत: कर्णो जयतु संयुगे । हत्वा कर्ण जयत्वद्य मम पुत्रो धनंजय:,यह सुनकर सूर्यदेव कहने लगे--“नहीं, कर्ण ही अर्जुनको जीत ले। मेरा पुत्र कर्ण युद्धस्थलमें अर्जुनको मारकर विजय प्राप्त करे।” (इन्द्र बोले--) “नहीं, मेरा पुत्र अर्जुन ही आज कर्णका वध करके विजयश्रीका वरण करे”

hatvārjuna mama sutaḥ karṇo jayatu saṃyuge | hatvā karṇaṃ jayatv adya mama putro dhanaṃjayaḥ |

三阇耶说道:“‘杀死阿周那之后,愿我之子迦尔那在战斗中得胜;而今日杀死迦尔那之后,愿我之子檀那阇耶(阿周那)赢得胜利。’于是,在诸神愿望的交锋中——苏利耶为迦尔那祈愿,因陀罗为阿周那祈愿——叙事昭示:即便是神,也会偏向自己的儿子;而胜利竟被想象为以对方之死为代价,显出骨肉相残之战的悲剧伦理:凯旋与毁灭不可分离。”
