Arjuna Breaks the Encirclement; Bhīma Reinforces
एते भारत मातड्ा: कर्णेनाभिहता: शरै: | आर्तनादान् विकुर्वाणा विद्रवन्ति दिशो दश,“भारत! कर्णके बाणोंसे मारे गये ये मतवाले हाथी आर्तनाद करते हुए दसों दिशाओंमें भाग रहे हैं
ete bhārata mātaṅgāḥ karṇenābhihatāḥ śaraiḥ | ārtanādān vikurvāṇā vidravanti diśo daśa ||
三阇耶说道:“噢,婆罗多啊!这些因发情而狂躁的战象,被迦尔那之箭射中,发出凄厉哀号,惊惶失措,向十方奔逃。”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the immediate human-and-animal cost of martial power: skill in war can create terror and suffering, reminding the listener that battlefield success is inseparable from anguish inflicted on living beings.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Karṇa has shot the elephants with arrows; wounded and crying out, they stampede and scatter in all directions, intensifying the chaos of the fight.
