Educational Q&A

The passage underscores the power of disciplined learning and legitimate transmission of martial knowledge: a warrior’s prowess is shaped by instruction received from revered teachers, and such gifts carry ethical weight because they influence the course of war and responsibility in kingship.

Duryodhana recounts an ancient report once told by a sage to his father, emphasizing that Parashurama—descendant of Bhṛgu—was greatly pleased and granted Karna the divine Dhanurveda, thereby affirming Karna’s formidable training and status as a warrior.
