कर्णेन युधिष्ठिरानीकविदारणम् / Karṇa’s Breach of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Battle-Line
वृषभस्यास्थितो रुद्रो हयस्य च नरोत्तम | स्तनांस्तदा5$शातयत खुरांश्चैव द्विधाकरोत्
vṛṣabhasyāsthito rudro hayasya ca narottama | stanāṃstadāśātayat khurāṃścaiva dvidhākarot ||
毗湿摩说道:“人中至胜者啊,鲁陀罗立于公牛之首,亦踏于骏马之背。他乘其上而观魔城,继而将公牛之蹄劈为两瓣,又割去马之乳头——此举昭示其凶烈的镇世之力,以及他以毫不妥协的严厉,摧折一切依附于非正法(adharma)的敌对势力。”
पितामह उवाच
The verse highlights Rudra’s terrifying, corrective aspect: when forces aligned with adharma become entrenched (symbolized by the demon-city), the divine may act with uncompromising severity to reassert cosmic order, even through harsh, disruptive measures.
Bhīṣma describes Rudra standing upon a bull and a horse while looking over a demon-city; he then mutilates the animals—splitting the bull’s hooves and cutting the horse’s teats—depicting a fierce display of power in the course of subduing hostile beings.
