The Exploits of Śaineya/Sātyaki amid Encirclement
तावकानां परेषां च युध्यतां भरतर्षभ । नासीत् कश्चिन्महाराज योज्त्याक्षीत् संयुगं भयात्
tāvakānāṃ pareṣāṃ ca yudhyatāṃ bharatarṣabha | nāsīt kaścin mahārāja yo jitākṣīt saṃyugaṃ bhayāt ||
三阇耶说道:噢,婆罗多族中的雄牛,噢,大王——在你方与敌方交战的勇士之中,没有一人因恐惧而弃战离场。此景在危难中显出坚忍:两军皆为刹帝利之法所系,即便代价是生命,也不改其所择之职责。
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights steadfastness in one’s chosen duty: in the heat of battle, neither side yields to fear by deserting the field. Ethically, it underscores the epic ideal of kṣatriya resolve—endurance, honor, and commitment even amid mortal danger.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that during the fighting between the Kauravas and their opponents, no combatant withdrew from the battlefield out of fear; the engagement continues with unwavering intensity on both sides.
