Duryodhana’s Anxiety, Bhīṣma’s Reassurance, and Renewed Mobilization (दुर्योधनचिन्ता–भीष्मप्रत्याश्वासन–सेनानिर्गमनम्)
त॑ प्रत्यविध्यद् दशभिश्षित्रसेन: शिलीमुखै: । सत्यव्रतश्न नवशि: पुरुमित्रश्न सप्तभि:,तब चित्रसेनने दस, सत्यव्रतने नौ और पुरुमित्रने सात बाणोंसे मारकर अभिमन्युको घायल कर दिया
taṁ pratyavidhyad daśabhiḥ śitraseṇaḥ śilīmukhaiḥ | satyavrataś ca navaśiḥ purumitraś ca saptabhiḥ ||
三阇耶说道:质多罗塞那以十支锐利直飞之箭还击;萨提亚弗拉塔以九箭贯之;普鲁密多罗以七箭射之。于是,在战阵拥挤之中,阿毗曼纽在他们合力的猛攻下受了伤。
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the harsh reality of warfare: even a single heroic fighter can be overwhelmed by coordinated attacks. It invites reflection on kṣatriya-dharma (martial duty) and the ethical tension between individual valor and collective tactics on the battlefield.
Sañjaya reports that three warriors—Śitraseṇa, Satyavrata, and Purumitra—shoot Abhimanyu with successive volleys (10, 9, and 7 arrows), wounding him amid the ongoing battle.
