Makara-vyūha and Krauñca-prativyūha at Sunrise (मकरव्यूहः क्रौञ्चप्रतिव्यूहश्च)
राजा च शिबिरं प्रायात् प्रणिपत्य महात्मने । शिश्ये च शयने शुभ्रे रात्रि तां भरतर्षभ,भरतश्रेष्ठ! राजा दुर्योधन भी महात्मा भीष्मको प्रणाम करके अपने शिविरमें चला आया और अपनी शुभ्र शय्यापर सो गया
sañjaya uvāca | rājā ca śibiraṃ prāyāt praṇipatya mahātmane | śiśye ca śayane śubhre rātriṃ tāṃ bharatarṣabha ||
三阇耶说道:“国王向伟大的毗湿摩俯首致敬后,便回到自己的营帐;噢,婆罗多族中的雄牛,他躺在洁白光亮、吉祥的床榻上,在那里度过了那一夜。”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the importance of honoring elders and commanders through respectful conduct (praṇipāta), even amid conflict; it also subtly contrasts outward reverence with the ongoing moral tension of a war driven by ambition.
After paying respects to Bhīṣma, Duryodhana returns to the Kaurava camp and lies down to rest for the night, marking a pause in the action before the next developments in the battle narrative.
