देवदूतवच: श्रुत्वा वधे तस्य मनो दे | उस कटे हुए धनुषको फेंककर पितामह भीष्मने देवदूतके कथनपर ध्यान देकर तुरंत ही श्वेतके वधका निश्चय किया
devadūta-vacaḥ śrutvā vadhe tasya mano dadhe | utsṛjya chinnaṃ dhanuḥ śvetasya vadha-niścayaṃ pitāmaho bhīṣmaḥ kṛtavān ||
三阇耶说道：听闻天使之言，毗湿摩便定意诛杀白者（Śveta）。他抛却断裂之弓，作为婆罗多族的祖父，凝神聆受那来自天界的敕令，立刻决意使白者殒命——在战争严酷的必然之中，此举被视为奉行更高的命令。
