स शेते शरतल्पस्थो मेदिनीमस्पृशंस्तदा,वे पृथ्वीका स्पर्श किये बिना ही उस समय बाणशय्यापर सो रहे थे। भीष्मके रथसे गिरकर धरतीपर पड़ जानेपर समस्त प्राणियोंमें भयंकर हाहाकार मच गया
sa śete śaratālpastho medinīm aspṛśaṃs tadā | bhīṣmasya rathato bhūmau patite sarvabhūteṣu bhayaṅkaraḥ hāhākāro 'bhavat ||
三阇耶说道：当时，毗湿摩卧于箭床之上，身不触地。及至毗湿摩自战车坠落于地，万类众生之间顿起骇人的哀号。此景既显战争之惨烈代价，亦彰毗湿摩以誓愿自缚、以法（dharma）自持，在苦痛中仍能坚忍不屈的非凡气节。
