Bhīṣma’s Fall to the Arrow-Bed
अथान्यद् धनुरादाय वेगवत् परवीरहा । भगदत्तं रणे क्रुद्धं विव्याध निशितै: शरै:,तब शत्रुवीरोंका हनन करनेवाले सात्यकिने दूसरा वेगवान् धनुष लेकर पैने बाणोंद्वारा युद्धमें क्ुद्ध हुए भगदत्तको बींध डाला
athānyad dhanur ādāya vegavat paravīrahā | bhagadattaṃ raṇe kruddhaṃ vivyādha niśitaiḥ śaraiḥ ||
三阇耶说:随后,萨提耆——斩杀敌方勇将者——另取一张迅捷之弓,在鏖战之中以锐箭贯穿怒不可遏的薄伽达多。此景凸显战争无休止的推进:武艺与意志反复受试,而战场上的愤怒既可为刃,亦成祸患。
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the battlefield reality that anger (krodha) and valor intensify conflict; it implicitly cautions that wrath fuels escalation, while also reflecting the kṣatriya code where decisive action against formidable opponents is expected.
Sātyaki switches to another bow and rapidly shoots sharp arrows, wounding the furious Bhagadatta during the ongoing combat, as reported by Sañjaya.
