Marutta’s Sacrifice and Agni’s Embassy
tathā lokā mānuṣā ye ca divyāḥ prajāpateś cāpi ye vai mahāntaḥ | te te jitā devarājyaṃ ca kṛtsnaṃ bṛhaspatir yājayec cen narendra ||
The verse links royal success and access to higher realms with properly conducted sacrifice under an authoritative priest (Bṛhaspati), emphasizing that spiritual legitimacy and right ritual agency are portrayed as sources of fame and ‘victory’ beyond mere force.
Marutta speaks about the extraordinary results a king can attain if Bṛhaspati agrees to officiate the king’s sacrifice: human and divine realms, even Prajāpati’s great worlds, and the full ‘kingdom of the gods’ are described as becoming attainable.
