Marutta Seeks Saṃvarta’s Priestly Support; Conditions, Truth-Discipline, and Rival Powers
नाहं तेनाननुज्ञातस्त्वामाविक्षित कहिचित् | याजयेयं कथंचिद् वै स हि पूज्यतमो मम
nāhaṁ tenānanujñātas tvām āvikṣita kahicit | yājayeyam kathaṁcid vai sa hi pūjyatamo mama ||
毗耶娑说道:“阿毗克希多啊,若未得他允准,我无论如何都不能为你主持祭祀。他于我最为可敬,堪受至高的敬礼。”
व्यास उवाच
Ritual action must follow dharma: a priest should not proceed without proper authorization, and personal reverence for elders/teachers sets ethical limits on what one will do, even when requested.
Āvikṣita seeks Vyāsa’s help in conducting a sacrifice, but Vyāsa refuses to officiate unless he has obtained permission from a particular person whom Vyāsa calls his most venerable brother.
