Uttanka’s Guru-Śuśrūṣā and the Commission to Retrieve the Maṇikuṇḍalas (उत्तङ्क-गुरुशुश्रूषा तथा मणिकुण्डल-आदेशः)
अन्यमस्मै वरं देहीत्यसकृद् भुगुनन्दन । अमृतं देयमित्येव मयोक्त: स शचीपति:
anyam asmai varaṃ dehīty asakṛd bhṛgunandana | amṛtaṃ deyam ity eva mayoktaḥ sa śacīpatiḥ ||
“他一再对我说:‘噢,婆利古的后裔,赐他别的恩惠吧。’但我坚持道:‘必须是不死——阿姆利塔必得赐下。’于是我就这样紧逼舍契之主(因陀罗)。”
उत्तडुक उवाच
The verse highlights steadfastness in one’s pledged intent and the ethical weight of advocating for another’s promised boon, while also acknowledging the cosmic constraint that mortals are not ordinarily made immortal.
The speaker reports a dialogue with Indra: Indra repeatedly urges giving some other boon instead of amṛta, but the speaker insists that amṛta alone should be granted, pressing Indra to honor that specific request.
