Adhyātma-Upadeśa
एवं षड्विधविस्तारो रसो वारिमय: स्मृत: । मीठा, खट्टा, कड्आ, तीता, कसैला और नमकीन--इस प्रकार छ: भेदोंमें जलमय रसका विस्तार बताया गया है
evaṁ ṣaḍvidha-vistāro raso vāri-mayaḥ smṛtaḥ |
风神伐由说道:“如此,水性之‘味’当知为六种展开:甜、酸、辛、苦、涩、咸。”就其语境而言,此教诲将感官经验——尤以味觉为要——安置于可知、可辨的秩序之中,劝人以纪律洞察身与受,而非沉溺放纵、迷乱不明。
वायुदेव उवाच
That taste (rasa), understood as a water-based sensory quality, is systematically classified into six kinds; this supports mindful regulation of sense-experience through clear knowledge rather than impulse.
