वर्णतो गुणतश्चैव योनितश्वैव तत्त्वतः । सर्वमेतत्तमो विप्रा: कीर्तितं वो यथाविधि,विप्रवरो! वर्ण, गुण, योनि और तत्त्वके अनुसार मैंने आपसे तमोगुणका पूरा-पूरा यथावत् वर्णन किया
varṇato guṇataś caiva yonitaś caiva tattvataḥ | sarvam etat tamo viprāḥ kīrtitaṃ vo yathāvidhi ||
风神伐由说道：“婆罗门诸贤啊，我已依其法度、按其次第，为你们详尽宣说惰暗（tamas）：按种姓阶序（varṇa）、按诸质（guṇa）、按生类与出身（yoni）、并按其本体真实（tattva）而分别说明。”
