Kuntī’s Retrospective Uddharṣaṇa and Renunciatory Resolve (कुन्त्युद्धर्षण-प्रत्याख्यानम्)

The verse highlights dharma expressed as reverence to one’s mother and elders: touching the feet signifies humility, gratitude, and seeking blessings, while Sahadeva’s tears show the ethical depth of familial bonds after prolonged hardship.
As the Pāṇḍavas hasten forward eager to see their elder Dhṛtarāṣṭra, Sahadeva runs ahead to Kuntī, reaches her first, touches and holds her feet, and weeps openly—marking an emotionally charged reunion in the forest-ascetic setting of the Āśramavāsika episode.
