Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
इस लोकके जो आदि स्रष्टा हैं, उन ब्रह्माजीका कथन है कि अग्नि परब्रह्मस्वरूप है। वही अविनाशी परब्रह्म परमात्मा है और वही सम्पूर्ण कामनाओंको देनेवाला है। यह गोपनीय रहस्य ज्ञानी पुरुष बताते हैं ।।
Asya loke yo 'di-sraṣṭā sa brahmāṇo vacanaṃ—agniḥ parabrahma-svarūpaḥ. Sa evāvināśī parabrahma paramātmā, sa eva ca sarva-kāma-pradaḥ. Idaṃ gopyaṃ rahasyaṃ jñāninaḥ puruṣāḥ pravadanti. Tato 'bravīn mahādevo varuṇaḥ pavanātmakaḥ—mama satram idaṃ divyam, ahaṃ gṛhapatis tv iha.
婆悉吒(Vasiṣṭha)说道:梵天(Brahmā),此世间最初的创造者,曾宣示:阿耆尼(Agni,祭火)即具至上梵(Parabrahman)之性。那不坏的至上者——至我(Paramātman)——乃一切所愿成就之施与者。智者称此为秘而守之的真谛。随后,大自在天(Mahādeva)——或现为伐楼那(Varuṇa),或现为具风性之威力——宣告道:“此乃我之天界萨特拉祭会(satra,长时祭仪);在此,我自身即为此祭之居主与施主(yajamāna)。”
वसिष्ठ उवाच
Agni is presented not merely as physical fire but as a manifestation of the imperishable Supreme (Parabrahman/Paramātman), the ultimate source and fulfiller of aims; this truth is treated as a guarded, esoteric doctrine known to the wise.
Vasiṣṭha reports Brahmā’s doctrinal statement identifying Agni with the Supreme, and then the scene shifts to a proclamation by Mahādeva—appearing through Varuṇa and a wind-natured form—claiming ownership and patronage of a divine satra (extended sacrificial rite).
