Suvarṇa-dāna: Kārttikeya’s Origin and the Defeat of Tāraka (सुवर्णदान-प्रसङ्गे कार्त्तिकेय-उत्पत्ति तथा तारकवधः)
वरयस्व वरं देवि दातास्मीति पुरंदर
varayasva varaṃ devi dātāsmīti purandara | satī sādhvī devī tvaṃ kasmād etad ghoraṃ tapaḥ karoṣi | śobhane mahābhāge tava tapasyāyāṃ suparituṣṭo 'smi | devi yathābhimataṃ varaṃ vṛṇu | purandara iti mayā surabhī vara-vṛddhyarthaṃ preritā |
破城者（普兰达罗，因陀罗）说道：“噢，女神，择取一愿吧；我愿赐予。”又说：“噢，贞洁有德者，为何行此严酷苦行？噢，光耀者，噢，大福德者！我对你的苦行深感欢喜。噢，天女（Devi），随你所愿，求取任何恩赐。”如此，噢，破城者，我便劝苏罗婆希求愿。
