Go-mahātmyam: Pavitrāṇāṃ Pavitraṃ
Cows and Ghee as Supreme Purifiers
यज्जैरवाप्यते सोम: स च गोषु प्रतिष्ठित: । ततो देवा: प्रमोदन्ते पूर्व वृत्तिस्तत: प्रजा:
yajñair avāpyate somaḥ sa ca goṣu pratiṣṭhitaḥ | tato devāḥ pramodante pūrva-vṛttis tataḥ prajāḥ ||
毗湿摩说道：“苏摩（Soma）由祭祀而得，而祭祀又以牛群为根基。由此诸天欢喜。故而生计与资粮当先，继而人民—子嗣与社会—方能兴盛。”
