भीष्म उवाच
Bhishma teaches that a sacrifice is ethically completed not merely by ritual acts but by honoring and supporting worthy Brahmins—those grounded in learning, austerity, and good conduct—through appropriate gifts, done with disciplined observance.
In Bhishma’s instruction on dharma, he directs the listener (contextually Yudhishthira) on proper sacrificial conduct: during the yajna, one should gratify qualified Brahmins with wealth, emphasizing their virtues (Vedic knowledge, saintliness, friendliness, and austerity).
