Educational Q&A

The verse highlights ethical purification through contact with a true sage: when one is rightly instructed, inner afflictions like grief and anger subside, and gratitude replaces resentment. The emphasis is on inner transformation (antarātman) as the mark of genuine purification.

After being spoken to by an eminent rishi, King Kuśika becomes inwardly delighted and responds respectfully. He declares that the sage has purified them, that they feel no sorrow or anger, and that they have regained youthful vigor and bodily strength—signs of a boon or restorative blessing.
