Viśvāmitra-janma: Ṛcīka–Satyavatī–Gādhi and the Charu Exchange

The verse highlights satya (truthfulness) as an ethical anchor: Bhīṣma frames his assurance as a truthful statement, implying that words—especially from elders—should be reliable and dharmic. It also upholds the ideal that virtue and the continuity of a righteous lineage are worthy aims.
Bhīṣma, speaking as an elder authority, gives a confident assurance to the addressed woman that she will bear a great, virtuous, and illustrious son who will continue their family line, and he underscores the certainty by stating he speaks the truth.
