Dharma should be learned through humble inquiry from a truly qualified authority—one proven by discernment (buddhi), wisdom (prajñā), and disciplined conduct (tapas).
Yudhiṣṭhira respectfully acknowledges the addressee’s exceptional moral and intellectual stature and, on that basis, requests instruction on dharma, declaring that no one else is as worthy to be questioned.
