यह तीर्थ-सेवनका कार्य परम पवित्र, पुण्यप्रद, स्वर्गकी प्राप्तिका सर्वोत्तम साधन और वेदोंका गुप्त रहस्य है। प्रत्येक तीर्थ पावन और स्नानके योग्य होता है ।।
idaṃ dadyād dvijātīnāṃ sādhōr ātma-hitasya ca | suhṛdāṃ ca japet karṇe śiṣyasyānugatasya ca ||
奉行与巡礼诸圣渡处（tīrtha）之事，至为清净，能生功德，被视为得天之最上方便，亦为吠陀所秘之奥义。每一 tīrtha 皆为圣净，堪作仪式沐浴之所。然此诸 tīrtha 之大功德，当仅传于二次生者（dvija）、求自身真实利益之贤善者、可信之友，以及守戒随顺之弟子——当私下低语，如护持之吠陀秘藏。
