Mataṅga–Gardabhī Itihāsa
कालोदकं नन्दिकुण्डं तथा चोत्तरमानसम् | अभ्येत्य योजनशताद्ू भ्रूणहा विप्रमुच्यते
kālodakaṃ nandikuṇḍaṃ tathā cottaramānasam | abhyetya yojanaśatād bhṛūṇahā vipramucyate ||
若有人跋涉百由旬,来到名为“迦罗陀迦”(Kālodaka)、“难提昆陀”(Nandikuṇḍa)与“北摩那萨”(Uttaramānasa)的圣水之地,并在其中沐浴,即便犯下弑杀婆罗门胎(brahmaṇa-embryo killing)这等重罪,也能从罪垢中解脱。
अजड्रिय उवाच
The verse teaches that pilgrimage to certain highly revered tīrthas—undertaken with significant effort—can function as a powerful means of expiation, symbolizing the possibility of moral purification and reintegration even after severe wrongdoing.
In a discourse on tīrthas and their merits, the speaker lists specific sacred waters (Kālodaka, Nandikuṇḍa, Uttaramānasa) and states their exceptional purificatory efficacy: one who reaches them after traveling a great distance is said to be freed from the sin of embryo-killing.
