Brāhmaṇya-प्रश्नः — The Inquiry into Attaining Brāhmaṇya
Mataṅga–Gardabhī Itihāsa
माघमासं प्रयागे तु नियत: संशितव्रत:
māghamāsaṃ prayāge tu niyataḥ saṃśitavrataḥ
“在摩伽月(Māgha),于普罗耶伽(Prayāga),我自持严谨、心志坚定,奉行一项坚固而分明的誓戒(vrata)。”
अजड्रिय उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic self-discipline: undertaking a strict vow (vrata) at a sacred place and time (Prayāga in Māgha) as a means of ethical purification and accumulation of merit through regulated conduct.
The speaker, Ajadriya, is describing his own observance—staying at Prayāga during the Māgha month while maintaining strict restraints and a firm vow—likely as part of a broader account of vows, tīrtha-observances, or merit-producing practices discussed in the Anuśāsana Parva.
