Mataṅga–Gardabhī Itihāsa
चित्रकूटे जनस्थाने तथा मन्दाकिनीजले । विगाहा वै निराहारो राजलक्ष्म्या निषेव्यते
citrakūṭe janasthāne tathā mandākinī-jale | vigāhya vai nirāhāro rāja-lakṣmyā niṣevyate ||
阿阇陀利耶说道:“凡在质多罗俱吒(Citrakūṭa)于曼陀吉尼河水中沐浴,又在阇那斯坦那(Janasthāna)同样沐浴,继而守斋禁食者,必为王者之福德——罗阇拉克什弥(Rajalakṣmī)所随侍。”
अजड्रिय उवाच
The verse links sacred bathing (tīrtha-snān) and fasting (nirāhāra) with the attainment of rāja-lakṣmī—prosperity and status—implying that disciplined self-restraint performed in holy contexts is ethically efficacious and socially fruitful.
Ajadriya is describing the fruit (phala) of specific tīrtha-observances: bathing at Citrakūṭa in the Mandākinī and at Janasthāna, followed by fasting, which is said to bring the favor of royal fortune.
