Aṣṭāvakra’s Visit to Kubera: Hospitality, Temptation, and the Ethics of Restraint (अष्टावक्र-वैश्रवणोपाख्यानम्)
त्रैलोक्यस्याधिपत्यं वा तुष्टो रुद्र: प्रयच्छति । “भगवान् रुद्र संतुष्ट हो जायँ तो वे ब्रह्मपद, विष्णुपद, देवताओंसहित देवेन्द्रपद अथवा तीनों लोकोंका आधिपत्य प्रदान कर सकते हैं
trailokyasyādhipatyaṃ vā tuṣṭo rudraḥ prayacchati |
风神伐由说道:“若鲁陀罗(湿婆)欢喜,他甚至能赐予统御三界之权。”
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse teaches the extraordinary potency of Rudra’s favor: when Śiva is truly pleased, he can grant even the highest form of worldly/cosmic authority. Implicitly, it elevates devotion aligned with dharma as a means to attain (or transcend) great power.
Vāyu is speaking and highlighting Rudra’s capacity to bestow supreme dominion—specifically, lordship over the three worlds—thereby emphasizing Rudra’s greatness and the efficacy of pleasing him through proper devotion and conduct.
