पराशर उवाच
The verse highlights a dharmic ideal of seeking progeny not for power or pleasure but for spiritual excellence and compassion, emphasizing that such blessings are obtained through devotion and divine grace (Maheśvara’s favor).
Parāśara expresses his wish that, through Śiva’s grace, he may obtain a son—Vedavyāsa—characterized by prosperity, Brahminical virtue, and compassion, setting the background for Vyāsa’s revered role in sacred tradition.
