Educational Q&A

The verse presents an ethical ideal of divinity/ideal kingship: compassion toward devotees (bahuprasāda), inner and outer victory over enemies (amitrajit), purity and clarity (darpaṇa), grounding in sacred knowledge (vedakāra, mantrakāra), and the capacity to protect dharma through strength when necessary (samaramardana).

Vāyu is offering a hymn-like praise, stringing together honorific epithets that describe the addressed figure’s benevolence, purity, mastery of Vedic/mantric wisdom, and martial power—typical of Mahābhārata stuti passages that frame a moral-spiritual portrait through names and attributes.
