Śiva-stavarāja: Upamanyu’s Preface and Initiation of the Śarva-Nāma Enumeration
Anuśāsana-parva 17
kailāsagirivāsī ca himavadgiri-saṁśrayaḥ | kūlahārī kūlakartā bahuvidyo bahupradaḥ ||
The verse praises a figure through paradoxical natural imagery—able to destroy and to create (eroding banks yet also forming them)—and links true greatness with both wide learning (bahuvidya) and abundant generosity (bahuprada).
Vāyu-deva is describing and extolling a powerful being associated with sacred mountains (Kailāsa and the Himālaya), highlighting their might in shaping landscapes and their virtues of knowledge and giving.
