सर्वथा यत्‌ पशून्‌ पाति तैश्व यद्‌ रमते सह । तेषामधिपतिर्यच्च तस्मात्‌ पशुपति: स्मृत:

Transliteration

sarvathā yat paśūn pāti taiś ca yad ramate saha | teṣām adhipatir yac ca tasmāt paśupatiḥ smṛtaḥ ||

Translation

伐由说道：“因他以诸般方式护佑群兽，乐于与之同居，并为其主宰与监护者，故人们忆念其名为‘兽主’（Paśupati）——众生之主。”
