Bhīṣma highlights disciplined, considerate conduct—self-restraint, fair provision for dependents (children), gentle behavior, and observance of sexual/purity restraints—as a dharmic lifestyle that yields merit and leads to svarga.
In Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction section, Bhīṣma continues advising on righteous conduct by describing the practices of virtuous people: they control the mind, distribute shares to children, behave gently, avoid intercourse with a menstruating woman, and thereby attain heaven through auspicious deeds.
