Bhīṣma’s Yogic Departure, Royal Cremation, and Gaṅgā’s Lament (भीष्मस्य योगयुक्त्या देहत्यागः, पितृमेधः, गङ्गाविलापः)
ततो देवगिरौ तस्मिन् रम्ये पुण्ये सनातने । न शर्व भूतसंघं वा ददृशुर्मुन॒यस्तदा
tato devagirau tasmin ramye puṇye sanātane | na śarva-bhūtasaṅghaṃ vā dadṛśur munayas tadā ||
随后,在那美丽、神圣而永恒的提婆吉利山上,诸仙环顾四周,却既不见娑尔婆(湿婆)之身,也不见其随从众生的会集。
नारद उवाच
Sacred places and sincere seeking do not guarantee immediate visions; spiritual pursuit often includes periods of apparent absence that test steadiness, humility, and commitment to inquiry.
Nārada narrates that the sages arrive at the holy mountain Devagiri and look around, but they do not see Śiva (Śarva) nor his attendant host of bhūtas, setting up the next development as they seek to understand where the deity and his retinue are.
