Fruits of Disparaging vs. Observing Dharma; Marks of Good Conduct
gurutalpī gurudrohī gurukutsāratiśnayaḥ | brahmavid cāpi patati brāhmaṇo brahmayonitaḥ ||
Reverence and fidelity to the guru are non-negotiable pillars of dharma; even profound spiritual knowledge cannot counteract the moral collapse caused by violating, betraying, or slandering one’s teacher.
Śrī Maheśvara states a rule of conduct: a Brahmin, even if a knower of Brahman, is spiritually and socially degraded if he commits severe offenses against the guru—especially sexual violation, betrayal, or habitual revilement.
