The verse lists key restraints (yamas) of dharmic conduct: avoid involvement with another’s spouse, faithfully protect what (and whom) is entrusted to you, do not take or use what has not been properly given, and practice dietary restraint by avoiding honey and meat.
In Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction-focused setting, Śrī Maheśvara is presented as delivering concise ethical injunctions—practical rules meant to uphold social order, personal purity, and trustworthiness.
