gīrbhiḥ paramaśuddhābhis tuṣṭuvuś ca manoharam | vimuktāḥ sarvapāpebhyaḥ kṣāntā vigatakalmaṣāḥ || tasya bhūtapateḥ sthānaṃ bhīmarūpadharaṃ babhau ||
The verse highlights the ethical-spiritual power of inner purity (vigatakalmaṣa), freedom from wrongdoing (vimukta from pāpa), and forbearance (kṣānti). Such qualities make devotion truthful and effective, culminating in a direct manifestation of the divine presence.
A group of great sages, described as purified and sinless, bow down to Śaṅkara and praise him with pure speech. In response or as a consequence of this sacred encounter, the abode or station of Bhūtapati (Śiva) becomes manifest in a formidable, awe-inspiring form.
