Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
वैशम्पायन उवाच एवमुक्त्वा तु भगवान् गुणांस्तस्य महात्मन: । उपस्पृश्य शुचिर्भूत्वा कथयामास धीमत:
vaiśampāyana uvāca evam uktvā tu bhagavān guṇāṁs tasya mahātmanaḥ | upaspṛśya śucir bhūtvā kathayāmāsa dhīmataḥ ||
毗舍波耶那说：如是言毕，世尊便称述那位大心者的诸般德行。随后他行阿遮摩那（ācamana）之净仪，令身心如法清净，遂以智慧与明辨，开始叙说至上主湿婆（Śiva）的种种殊胜功德，为后续的赞颂奠定了庄严而自持的基调。
